Senior Buyer

Our client are one of the largest Mechanical and Electrical contracting businesses in the UK who are now looking for a Senior Buyer to join their team.

Based from any UK location,this will be a ongoing contract until March 2025.

Job Role

Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the senior buyer is primarily responsible for supporting regional purchasing activities including local bid support.

The role is further responsible for encouraging good practice behaviour in line with company policies and procedures, and is seen as the 'go to' person for advice, support and engagement for all purchasing and supply chain needs within the allocated region.

  • Supporting line management, function and business in providing excellent service to internal and external stakeholders within the allocated region.
  • Working closely with operations teams to understand weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual bid, purchase, procurement and supplier requirements, including key milestones and demands. Use this information to develop and deliver a regional purchasing workbook containing business agreed key performance indicators
  • Manage contractual risk
  • Ensure local supply chain solutions are robust and fit for purpose
  • Support as necessary, the delivery of category management and business wide sourcing activities where required
  • As required, input into business issue resolution activities.
  • Ensure all activities are compliant with company policies and procedures.

Experience Needed

  • Buyer, in Procurement in a similar industry if possible.
  • A solid understanding of the financial aspects and implications of operational requirements and procurement activities.
  • Awareness of the commercial impact of decisions and the implications on the procurement process.
  • Reasonable understanding, knowledge and experience of the processes relating to procurement strategy.
  • Experience of supplier development techniques and managing the development of supplier relationships.
  • You will have brilliant organisational skills and are able to juggle rapidly changing priorities whilst meeting your deadlines
  • The ability to gain commitment and buy-in from a range of internal and external stakeholders
